Barber, Mrs. Rachel, East Hamburg, p. o. Ellicott.-The late Roswell F. Barber was born in the town of Hamburg,
N. Y., August 27, 1813. He was educated in the district schools and followed the honorable occupation of farming.
He married twice; first, on November 5, 1838, to Cyrena Colvin, and they had four children: Ury, Philetus, Horace
and Rachel. Mrs. Barber died June 14, 1850, and in June, 1853, Mr. Barber married Rachel S. Colvin, and they had
three children: Harrison B., Sanford P. and Horace H., who died in his fifth year. Mr. Barber died December 13,
1879. Harrison W. married Juilett Hewett; Sanford T. married Sarah A. Perkins, and they have four children, Clara
B., Ida M., Elbert S. and Ethel S. Mrs. Barber's father, Isaac, youngest son of Amos and Mary Colvin, was born
in Vermont in 1800. He married Clorana Beardsley, and they had three children: Cyrena, Ury and Rachel (as above).
Mr. Colvin died in 1829 and his widow September 13, 1885. Jacob and Luther Colvin were soldiers in the war of 1812.
