Ellis, Bruce, Buffalo, was born in Brant county, Ontario, Canada, in February, 1852, and was educated, in the
public schools of Ontario. His first business experience was with the Great Western Railway, as freight agent at
Hensall, Out., retaining that position for nine years, when he resigned and removed to the West, where he engaged
in the stock business, and remained for two years. At the end of this time he removed to Ainsworth, Ind., where
he was appointed freight agent for the Chicago & Grand Trunk Railway, and was removed after two years to Granger,
Ind., and acted as agent for the C. W. & M. Railroad for two years. At the end of this service a position was
offered him, which he accepted, with the Canada & St. Louis, at Goshen, Ind., where he remained for a short
time, when he was called to Battle Creek. Mich., to take charge of the auditor's department, remaining with that
road until it went into the hands of the L. S. & M. S., when he resigned and accepted a position with the Michigan
Central as freight agent at Grand Rapids, Mich. He remained there for a short time and was appointed agent at Suspension
Bridge, N. Y. In 1891 he removed to Buffalo to take charge of the Buffalo freight office and has since then resided
in that city. Mr. Ellis was married November 11, 1883, to Marie E. Edmonds of Hamilton, Out.
