Fischer, George B., Buffalo, was born in Germany January 6, 1842, a son of John Philip and Elizabeth (Hengerer)
Fischer. When he was twenty.three years of age he emigrated to America and settled in New York city, where he remained
for three years, being engaged in the meat business. He then removed to Buffalo and engaged in the same business
for a period of twenty-one years, after which he engaged in the sewing machine business, selling the product of
the Domestic Sewing Machine Company for a number of years, and then taking the Buffalo agency of the Standard Sewing
Machine Company which he still retains. He is a member of the I. O. O. F., and is well known throughout Erie county.
In April, 1871, he married Margaret, daughter of Jacob Eppel, of Buffalo. Six children survive: Catherine (wife
of Charles Regan), Emma M., William J., Edward J., Margaret E. and George B.
