Grove, Peter, Amherst, p. o. Williamsville, son of Peter and Jane Grove, was born in Williamsville, October 21, 1847, and educated in the public schools. When a young man he went to Chicago and engaged in the soda business, which he followed for twelve years. He also spent some time in the gold mines of Colorado, walking from Omaha to Denver. He returned to Williamsville and engaged in the coal business, which he is still engaged in. Mr. Grove has been president of the village of Williamsville two years, trustee nine years, street commissioner nine years, and was town collector, corporation collector and school collector at the same time. He has been constable for fourteen consecutive years and served four months in the war in the 98th N. Y. Vols.
