Schofield, William, East Hamburg, p. o. Orchard Park, was born in Yorkshire, England, November 6, 1832, and
was educated in their schools. He was a painter and decorator by occupation and is now a farmer. In 1852 he married
Martha Blackburn of his native place, and in February, 1853, they came to the United States, and the following
year came to Erie county. They had ten children: Henrietta, George, Mary, Sarah, Lillie M., Lucy G., William J.,
Verna C., Edward and Elizabeth, who died in infancy. Henrietta married William Smith, and they have three children,
Nettie, William and Mabel. George married Emma Mullen of Genesee county, and they have two children, Edith and
Roy. Mary E. married Otis Clark, and they have two children, Gertrude and Howard. Sarah married George Purdy, and
they have one daughter, Lillian M. William J. married Jennie Merriman. Verna married David McMillan, and they have
two children, Ethel and William. Edward married Mary Hazelsweet and they have one son, Clarence. In his political
choice Mr. Schofield is a thorough Republican.
