Thorn, Perry M., Hamburg, was born at Abbott's Corners (now Armor), November 25, 1855. He resided in the town
of Eden eight years, the balance of his life in the town of Hamburg, N. Y. He was educated in Hamburg Academy and
in Bryant's Business College in Buffalo, N.Y. He studied law with his father, Abram, and was admitted to the bar
in June, 1880, and practiced law three years. He was elected justice of the peace in 1877, resigned the office
in 1883 and accepted the position of bookkeeper in the Bank of Hamburg. When the People's Bank was organized in
1891 he became cashier of it, which position he now holds. He has been president of the village of Hamburg several
years and holds the office of village treasurer. He is a member of Fraternal Lodge No. 625, F. & A. M., and
was elected its master in 1895. January 11, 1877, he married Armida N. Potter of Armor, N. Y., and they have one
daughter, Allie Ray. Mr. Thorn's father, Abram, was born in the town of Eden, August 3, 1812, where be was a lawyer
and farmer. February 17, 1837, he married Phila M. Pratt of the town of Collins, and they had four living children.
His father was Joseph, who settled in East Hamburg in 1809; his grandfather was Abram and his great.grandfather
Webster Thorn, who came from England at an early day.
