Umpleby, Charles E., Hamburg, was born in that town, January 9, 1862, and was educated in the Hamburg Academy.
June 21, 1888, he married Mary A. Flint of Hamburg, and she died September 13, 1894. He married again in January,
1896, Harriet F. Ames of Ogdensburg, N. Y. Mr. t.Tmpleby is correspondent for several New York and Buffalo newspapers,
and a member of Fraternal Lodge No. 635, F. & A. M. His father, Emanuel Umpleby, was born in Leeds, England,
March 6, 1824, and came to America with his parents in 1844, locating in Buffalo for a short period, when they
moved to Ridge Road, in the town of Hamburg. He married Esther Palmer, and they had one son, Charles B., as above.
Mrs. Umpleby's father, Joseph R. Ames, was born in Norway, Me., in 1819, and married Harriet F. Boutell; they had
two daughters, Josephine and Harriet F., as above. The Ames family were soldiers in the Revolutionary war.
