Vance, Samuel D., Concord, p. o. East Concord, was born near Quebec, January 14, 1841, and came to the United
States in 1848, settling in Boston, Mass., with his uncle, Samuel Vance, who came to Concord in 1849. Samuel D.
Vance was educated in the common schools, after which he farmed it and at the present time controls twenty-nine
cheese factories. In 1890 he built his present residence at East Concord and in 1895 bought the store which he
still conducts. In 1865 he married Julia A. Wilcox, and they have four daughters: Mrs. Cora M. Morse, Mrs. Nellie
M. Mayo, Mattie and Annie.
