Young, Jasper S., Buffalo, son of Jasper B. and Evaline (Abby) Young, was born in the town of Amherst, Erie
county. N. Y., July 30, 1840. He attended both public and private schools, also the Williamsville Academy. His
first business experience was with an engineer corps on the Chicago and Great Eastern Railroad. At the end of this
service he entered the State Engineer's Department. He afterward served on the construction of the Wabash Railroad
as division engineer and on the completion of the road was made resident engineer of the St. Louis division, in
which capacity he served until 1871, when he resigned to take charge of his father's stone quarries in Buffale,
where he has since resided. In May, 1865, he married Neoma Simons from Niagara county.
