Patrick Gleason, born in Le Roy, June 18, 1859, is a son of Michael and Mary (Mackey) Gleason, of Tipperary, Ireland, who came to Le Roy in 1848, and lived here until their deaths. The father died in 1872. and the mother in 1889. Their children were Thomas, Catherine, and Patrick. The latter received a common school education, and at nine years of age began work in Keeney & Son's warehouse, continuing there until 1886, when he purchased the business of H. E. Walker and began dealing in coal, fruits, beans, and all kinds of produce, doing a very extensive business. He married Mary, daughter of Robert and Bridget Flinn.
