Edward Halsey was born December 19, 1809, in Fairfield, Herkimer County, N. Y. He was a wagonmaker by trade, and settled in Alabama in 1847, as a farmer. He married Nancy Goff, of Henrietta, N. Y., and they had two children: Alice, wife of Frank Blackman, who resides in Rockford, Ill., and Henry, who resides in Oakfleld. Mr. Halsey's wife was born December 11, 1812. They reside at Smithville.
