Alva Jefferson, a pioneer in 1812, was a very prominent man 60 years ago. He was a farmer and a mechanic, and
was of the firm of Horton & Jefferson in Darien City. When he gave up business he settled on a farm on the
Buffalo road. He built a store in 1832, was a member of the Assembly, and a firm friend of Gov. Seward. He had
two sons and two daughters.
