Among the early settlers of Darien was Ichabod Jefferson, who arrived in 1812, settling in the south part of
the town. For a few years before his death, in 1848, he made his home with his daughter Betsey, the wife of Elijah
Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a blacksmith, and came from Vermont to Darien in 1822. He died in 1889, and his wife
in 1884. They resided in the village. Alva, a son, is a blacksmith occupying the shop of his father.
