Douglass, Hart, was born in the town of Stafford, N. Y., February 23. 1839, a son of Leander and Isabelle (Norris)
Douglass. His father was a native of Orange county and came to Genesee county in 1837. He was a tanner by trade
and was a large contractor in canal and railroad work: he died in 1872. Hart Douglass was educated in the common
schools and Pembroke Academy, and has always followed farming. He married Penelope S., daughter of William Westcott;
they have two children: Rose N. and Norris W. Mr. Douglass is one of Stafford's enterprising citizens, of sterling
integrity and active public spirit.
