Edgerton, Alanson, was born in the town of Barre. Orleans county, N. Y., December 12, 1823. In 1853 he married
Emeline Palmer of Ridgeway. He removed with his parents to Elba when he was ten years old. His active life has
been passed as a farmer. He removed to the village of Batavia in 1878, and remained until 1898, when he returned
to his farm. Mr. Edgerton has been a prosperous and successful farmer. He is endowed with a powerful, vigorous
frame, and at seventy-six shows few traces of old age. His eldest son, Freeman Edgerton, was born April 13. 1861.
He was educated in the public schools and at the Batavia Union School. In 1882 he married Susie, daughter of Truman
Phelps, and they have four children, Ray N., Alanson H., Neva L. and Emma F. He is a farmer and resides in Elba.
Hart Edgerton, the younger son of Alanson Edgerton, was born January 16, 1863. He resides in Rochester.
