Jacks, James C., was born in Batavia, N. Y., August 20, 1818, a son of Samuel and Betsey (Hasted) Jacks. His father was a native of Londonderry, N. H., and was a prominent blacksmith and farmer. James C. was educated in the public schools and in 1841 married Josephine B., daughter of John Chester Wilford; they have had five children: Rev. J. Wilford Jacks, D. D., Corwin, Mrs. Mary E. Kellogg, Mrs. Julia W. Bradley and Mrs. Sarah Josephine Silliman. Mr. Jacks died August 5, 1898.
