McCulley, John H., was born in Batavia, N. Y., April 16, 1837, a son of Thomas McCulley. who came to Batavia
in 1814; he married Sarah, daughter of Silas Hollister, who came to Batavia in 1812; he was a contractor and builder,
and died in 1865. John H. McCulley was educated in the public schools: in 1863 he purchased the Watrous farm, and
makes a specialty of dairying. Mr. McCulley served as highway commissioner for twelve years. He has been successful
in business, and few men in the county enjoy a larger acquaintance or have more friends. In 1869 Mr. McCulley was
married to Lucy Pease. daughter of Alvin Pease.
