Speyer, George, was born in the town of Elba, N. Y., March 5. 1867. son of Conrad Speyer, who was a native of
Bavaria. Germany, and came to Genesee county in 1855 and settled in the town of Alexander. He married Barbara Sunricker
and through life was a blacksmith. In 1869 he moved to the town of Batavia, where he died in 1895. George Speyer
was educated in Batavia and in 1896 married Kate, daughter of Russell Robbins. Mr. Speyer is one of the enterprising
men of the town; he was appointed postmaster of Daws in 1896; and by a consistent, intelligent course in life,
he has won the good opinion and confidence of his townsmen.
