Swezey, Hiram, was born in Herkimer county, N. Y., October 6, 1824, and is a son of George and Elizabeth (Wood)
Swezey. He was educated in the common schools and Fairfield Academy. He taught for several years, but during most
of his life has given his attention mainly to farming. In 1838 he moved to the town of Victor and remained there
until 1882, whpn he came to Batavia and purchased the Jerome Thompson property. He is largely engaged in dairying.
In 1853 Mr. Swezey married Mary, daughter of Daniel Silliman; they had five children: George S., H. Eugene, Cora.
