Haberlin, John P. B., was born in Saratoga in 1846, a son of John P. and Mary (Ricard) Haberlin. His grandparents
came here in 1833 and kept the old Lafayette House, the present Beverwick. His grandfather. John B., served in
the army under Napoleon I. His father was a native of the Canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. John P. B. Haberlin was
educated in the schools of the village and began his active busi. ness life as a clerk in a grocery store, after
which he was twenty years in mercantile business in New York city. He then returned to Saratoga Springs and is
connected with C. B. Thomas's ice business. Mr. Haberlin is a member of the board of auditors, also of the Royal
Arcanum. On January 26, 1868, he married Miss J. A. Van Voast of Brooklyn, who died in 1895, leaving two children:
John P. and Maude I.
