Height, Ferdinand, was born at Bailston Spa, September 21, 1832, a son of Daniel and Mary Ann (McKenzie) Height
He learned the printer's trade, which he fol. lowed from September 13, 1845, to July 4, 1850, when he lost an arm.
After spending a short time as clerk in New York. he embarked in the news business in 1853, which he continued
until 1858. In 1862 he was village clerk and was alsb town clerk part of a term. He subsequently spent fourteen
months as paymaster's clerk in the navy, when he returned to Saratoga and derked for five years. In 1875 he engaged
in the laundry business which he still continues. Mr. Height is a member of the Firemen's Benefit Association.
In addition to his regular laundry business Mr. Height is agent for the W. R. Lee Dye Works, No. 51 State street,
Troy, N. Y.
