Humphrey, John F., M. D., was born at Mechanicville, N. Y., March 24, 1865, and removed to Saratoga in 1867,
where he was educated in the public schools, graduating from the high school in 1888. During the next five years
he occupied a clerical position, at the same time reading medicine preparatory to entering Columbia University
in 1888, from which he was graduated in 1891, with the degree of M.D. He at once began the practice of his profession
in Saratoga Springs, associated with the late Dr. W. H. Hodgman and has attained a prominent place as a physician.
He is a member and vice-president of the Saratoga Medical Society; the New York State Medical Association; and
the third district branch of the New York State Association; also of the Masonic fraternity, and Royal Arcanum.
Dr. Humphrey's ancestors settled in Columbia county, afterward in Otsego county, but the immediate family have
resided in Saratoga county since 1850. Dr. Humphrey has been a member of the board of education since 1894, and
village health officer in 1S93 and 1894, and is attending physician to the Saratoga Hospital; is also a member
of the auditing committee of the same.
