Biography of Joseph E. Lyttle

Lyttle, Joseph E., was born in Mechanicville, N. Y., September 4, 1857, educated in the public schools and since
he attained his majority has been in the hotel and restaurant business and is now doing a good business in the
Park Avenue Opera House cafe. In April, 1887, he married Minnie A. McMann, and they had two children; Nicholas,
who died in infancy, and Joseph E., jr. Mr. Lyttle's father, Nicholas Lyttle, was born in county Antrim, north
of Ireland, in 1806, and was educated in their schools. He came to the United States at the age of twenty and enlisted
as a soldier in the Mexican war and won an honorable discharge. He married Margaret Dunn of New York city, and
came to Mechanicville; they had ten children: Charles, who died in infancy; John; Charles 2d, who also is dead;
Nicholas E., James, Mary J., Joseph E. (as above), Annie, Margaret and Kate. Mr. Lyttle died in 1886 and his wife
in 1870. Joseph E. Lyttle and family are members of St. Paul's Roman Catholic church. In his political choice he
is a staunch Democrat; the ancestry of family is Scotch, and Scotch-Irish.
