Dean, William R., was born in the town of Rodman, December 28, 1838, a son of Samuel Dean, a native of Manchester, England, and came to the United States in 1808 with his parents, settling in the middle of the forests. Samuel Dean was a man who took an active interest in public events and served his town in various ways. W. R. Dean was educated in Rodman, and carried on farming for twenty-five years. In 1891 he came to Adams Center and engaged in the hardware, grocery and agricultural implement business. In 1859 he married Cornelia Sischo, and they have two children: Charles J. and Nora. Mr. Dean has served as assessor for fifteen years and a member of the board of education.
