Lee, Ellen. -The late L. George Lee was born in the town of Hounsfield, December 29, 1822. He was educated in the common schools and was by occupation a farmer. He married twice, first to Jane Sterling, and they had three children Anna, George S., and Washington H. Mrs. Lee died about the year 1860, and on May 9, 1869, he married Ellen Carter; they had five children: James, Jessie M., Maud (all deceased) and two survive, William F., and James A., who are farmers at home. Mr. Lee died in 1888. Mrs. Lee's father, James Carter, was born in Ireland in 1805, and came to the United States in 1826, locating in this town. He married Ellen Vance, and they had six children: William, Margaret J., Ellen, James, Eliza A., and Francis A. Mr. Carter died in 1846 and his widow in 1882. Mrs. Lee is a member of the Episcopal church. The sons' political choice is Republican; the ancestry of the family is of New England origin.
