Nims, William A., son of John H. and Abigail (Brown) Nims, was born in Cape Vincent in 1851. After attaining
maturity he first engaged in farming and in 1874 commenced the study of law in the office of Winslow & Smith
in Watertown, continuing there one year. For two years subsequently he was with Hubbard & Waits, and was admitted
to practice in 1877.
