Wheeler, Gilbert H., son of Milton E. and Margaret (Evans) Wheeler, was born on his father's farm in Theresa
township, thirty-five years ago. He was educated in the public schools and Theresa Academy, which he attended in
the winters, working on the farm summers. He continued there until he reached his majority, having in the meantime
acquired a sufficient knowledge of carpenter and joiner work from his father (who was a carpenter as well as farmer)
to enable him to start out at the business in the vicinity of his home. His success at this calling led him to
pursue it for ten years with a marked degree of success, when a chance offering be purchased the Omar Mills, then
owned by Adison Jewett, which he has conducted with a marked degree of success ever since. In politics Mr. Wheeler
is a Republican, having inherited from his father not only his present political opinions, but other strong characteristics
which point to him as one of Omar's enterprising and highly esteemed citizens.
